The Children’s League held its April Board Meeting on Monday, April 23rd at the Brandon Conference Center. The main focus of the meeting was a discussion of the state-wide Family Resource Centers. With the Massachusetts House of Representatives Budget proposing a cut in funding, the topic was particularly important. As Audrey Smolkin, Director of Child and Family Policy at the Center for Health Policy and Research of University of Massachusetts Medical School reported, Family Resource Centers continue to grow, and have documented success in serving Massachusetts families.
Below are videos of key points made during the presentation and follow-up discussion. In the first clip, Joe Leavy of Communities for People, and Audrey Smolkin discuss priorities and funding.
In this next video, Audrey Smolkin discusses how the existing network of FRCs became the Commonwealth of Massachusetts go-to agency for hurricane relief.
In the video below, Audrey discusses the need for different agencies in the Commonwealth to share data.
