The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a national, nonprofit public charity dedicated to finding forever families for the more than 140,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States and Canada. Through its signature program, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids®️, the Foundation supports the hiring of adoption professionals, known as recruiters, who serve children most at risk of aging out of foster care without a permanent home.

The Foundation works closely with child welfare advocates and policymakers, provides free resources about foster care adoption and raises awareness through social media campaigns, public service announcements and events.

Functional Family Therapy (FFT) (Sexton & Alexander, 2006, Sexton, 2009) is an evidence-based treatment program for adolescents with behavior problems. FFT is a highly intense yet short-term intervention in which family-based treatment usually occurs in 12 to 20 family sessions over the course of 4 to 8 months. The active ingredients of FFT are based upon theoretically derived constructs that mediate the relationship between initial youth and family risk factors and successful treatment outcomes (e.g., decrease in drug use, risky sexual behavior, and other conduct problems).

The Lionheart Foundation, established in 1992, is a 501[c][3] nonprofit organization committed to creating high impact, evidence based programming that empowers incarcerated adults, at risk youth, adolescent parents, and direct care staff.

EQ2 is an interactive training and support program for direct care staff working with youth at risk. It fills a critical gap in building trauma informed communities. EQ2 refers to the combined emotional intelligence of staff and the youth they serve. Research shows that the relationships youth create with caregiving adults hold enormous potential for healing and transformation. EQ2 is uniquely designed to help staff build the essential and often complex social and emotional regulation skills required to actively manage how they respond to youths’ traumatic stress reactions and challenging behavior.
