On May 19, CLM held a legislative briefing to discuss the need for a Foster Parent Bill of Rights (H.212/S.87), to ensure that foster families are giving the training, resources, voice, and respect they need and deserve to carry out their important role in the foster care system. The briefing featured the voices of three foster parents who spoke about their personal experiences fostering youth, and improvements to the system needed to better support families and the youth in their care. The briefing also included remarks by legislation co-sponsors Rep. Tricia Farley-Bouvier and Rep. Paul Donato, long-time champions of foster families and this legislation.
The event was part of CLM's celebration of National Foster Care Month.
