The Children's League, as a member of the National Organization of State Associations for Children (NOSAC), is standing in solidarity with families of transgender youth in the face of recent laws that exacerbate the already disproportionately negative outcomes for youth who identify as LGBTQIA+ in the child welfare system.
As we have stated with our colleagues at NOSAC:
In no circumstances should the apparatus of the child welfare system — which is designed to protect children — be used to terrorize or stigmatize children or families that are part of the LGBTQ+ community. In the face of such injustice, we want to emphasize that every child is worthy of love, safety, and security.
