As March comes to an end, the Children's League celebrates National Social Work Month.
This month, CLM recognizes the dedicated social workers who work tirelessly to serve and improve the lives of thousands of children, young adults, and families across the Commonwealth in need of support. Social workers are irreplaceable and provide access to essential services, resources, and support for vulnerable populations in need.
To uplift our social workers, CLM strongly advocates for the following:
Legislative Priorities
An Act Establishing a Behavioral Health Workforce Center of Excellence (S.829 / H.1275)
An Act Establishing a Loan Repayment Program for Direct Care Human Service Workers (S.77 / H.214)
An Act Relative to a Livable Wage for Human Services Workers (S.84 / H.191)
Budget Priorities
Maintaining Governor Healey's funding of Chapter 257 services (line item 1599-6903)
- This funding supports rates for staff who provide essential human services and enables contracted providers to attract and retain qualified personnel. It is critical that this funding be maintained because the current rate of investment is already insufficient to fully meet the demands of the human services system, leading to staffing shortages and a disruption of critical services for vulnerable communities.
