The Juvenile Justice Policy and Data Board, of which CLM is a member, released its annual report, describing work and areas of study by the JJPAD in 2021. These topics included:
- juvenile justice trends and data availability
- the impact of COVID-19 on the juvenile justice system and youth at risk of involvement
- trauma screening and referral
- implementation of new projects like the Diversion Learning Lab and the Center on Child Wellbeing & Trauma
An important finding of the JJPAD is that while Massachusetts continues to reduce overall use of the juvenile justice system and increase diversion, racial and ethnic disproportionality in the system remains a significant problem.
