The Children's League of Massachusetts recently provided testimony on three key pieces of legislation that would enhance the education and health outcomes for children and youth in Massachusetts.
An Act expanding access to higher education tuition and fee waivers for adopted foster children codifies that full tuition/waivers will be granted to emerging adults in DCF or legal guardianship. CLM provided oral testimony on Friday, July 18th to the Joint Committee on Higher Education to advocate for the advancement of S.918/H.1431, presented by Sen. Comerford and Rep. Garballey.
An Act to ensure equitable health coverage for children, known as "Cover All Kids", expands MassHealth coverage to children and young adults who may not be currently eligible due to immigration status. The Children's League submitted written testimony to the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing to advocate for the advancement of the "Cover All Kids" bill introduced by Rep. Rogers (H.1403) and Sen. DiDomenico (S.855).
Lastly, An Act relative to social work uplifting practices and exam removal, known as the SUPER Act, removes the standardized test at the LCSW level that master's level social workers are already required to take after completing their master's degree. CLM submitted written testimony to the Joint Committee on Higher Education for the advancement of S.218/H.1423, presented by Sen. DiDomenico and Reps. Barber and Kushmerek.
